Prop65

Also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, California Proposition 65 is a law that requires warning to consumers if a product exposes consumers to a wide variety of chemicals known by the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, and/or other reproductive harm. Adopted amendments in September 2016, on how "clear and reasonable warnings" should be provided under Proposition 65, become operative on August 30, 2018. A pictogram – an exclamation mark inside an equilateral triangle – must also be included. Proposition 65 applies only in California.

What does the Proposition 65 Warning mean?

A Proposition 65 warning means that the business issuing the warning knows that one or more listed chemicals is merely present in its product. A warning must be given unless a business demonstrates that the exposure it causes poses "no significant risk."

Why do we place a Proposition 65 warning on our products?

A Proposition 65 warning means the company has chosen to provide a warning simply based on its knowledge about the presence of a listed chemical. Out of an abundance of caution, we place the Proposition 65 warnings on all packaging shipped to California.
